[It's been one whole week, and no one has died yet. For someone who seemed so sure that someone would die, it seems as if The Narrator was wrong about anyone killing another person. But after awhile, the hotel might seem pretty dull. There is only so much to do in here, and if you don't enjoy books and old board games, it's hard to keep you entertained unless you like marathons of Muppet Treasure Island.

But you can keep this up, right?

Yeah? Have you...not seen it in a long time?

Not seen it? I watch my stuff on the regular! I was a bit star back in the day, remember?

[He sighs, smiling at the good memories this brought back.]

This is the one where I rescue my sweet Ortensia from an evil knight. It was a blast.

You just seem a little surprised, is all. Like it's a...long-lost friend.

[ It's a little adorable to see him reminiscing. Not like she'd say that, but. ]

It's more then a friend, it was my work! "Oswald The Lucky Rabbit" I was called. Got to entertain hundreds of people!

[...He deflates a little, looking down at the reel, then back to Thalia.]

Hey, is it okay if I take this off your hands? I don't have anything to trade with.

Oh, what is it with you guys and trading? Go ahead, it's not like I'm using it for anything. [ She waves him ahead; go on! ] It means much more to you than me.

Heh, sorry, but that's just how it works in Wasteland. If I had some tickets, I'd give those to you.

[But sure. He's not gonna look a gift horse in the mouth. Horace made him promise that much.]

Are tickets what you use for currency, or are you just saying you'd give me a free theme park trip?

It's the thing Toons use as currency in Wasteland, mostly because the place we live in is based on the theme parks.

Two-in-one deal, got you. ...Why's it called Wasteland?

[forgottenfounder]

It's the Cartoon Wasteland. A place where everyone who gets forgotten or isn't love is sent. Any Toon, concept art, designs that were never used, junk, it all ends up there.

...Yikes. And you live there? Buddy... Any way to relocate?

[forgottenfounder]

Yeah, I was the first one to show up there, became the de-facto leader of the place and helped to make it what it is now.

[Something... more then a complete disaster. It's getting better,too.]

Sorry. I've thought about that a lot myself, but there's no getting out of Wasteland unless you have a heart.

...Um. Well, obviously, you do. You're a charismatic little guy, you've certainly got a heart.

Huh? No, no I mean a Heart. It's a...

[He does a little gesture with his hands? No? Not getting it? He has to explain yet.]

Imagine a Heart as the love you receive from all the people that know you. Not Toons, normal people, that watch cartoons. It's something like that.

[ ...Oh. ]

That's...a pretty awful system, Oswald. You have to be loved to get out of a literal wasteland?

[forgottenfounder]

It's not really a literal wasteland. For a while, a long time ago, it was perfect. I even made modifications to make it better for everyone that showed up there.

[But then things happened, and that's a conversation Oswald is stepping right over right now.]

But... yeah, being loved and remembered is the only way to get out of Wasteland. It's just natural, as time moves on... people forget about some things and remember other things.

...That sucks.

[ There's something more beneath her voice there, but she doesn't seem to be elaborating. ]

Any way to get your face out there? To spread the...good word of Oswald the Lucky Bunny?

[He probably won't ask her to elaborate on those feelings if she doesn't want to. At least he looks appreciative of her words, even cracking a smile.]

If more people know about me, then yeah, maybe I'll get a Heart of my own. That would sure be something.

[A moment, and then, he sighs.]

Ah, come on, I'm pretty happy where I am... I've got an amazing wife, some great kids, and even a bunch of friends to call my own. All of that makes things much better.

[ There's still something on her mind, but Thalia is content leaving it be. Especially if he seems alright with this. She smiles a little. ]

That sort of thing does help. A family of your own. ...As long as you're happy, buddy.

Trust me, I'm doing a LOT better then I was a while back - things got really bad in Wasteland for a while there.

[He puffs his chest out, all proud-like.]

Luckily, I helped put a stop to it.

It was right in the middle of setting up the reconstruction effort! Then... I woke up here.

[ Scowl. ]

Me too. I mean- a reconstruction effort, on my part. We just got through with this...massive war, and...gods, there was so much work to do.
