Week 2

[It's been one whole week, and no one has died yet. For someone who seemed so sure that someone would die, it seems as if The Narrator was wrong about anyone killing another person. But after awhile, the hotel might seem pretty dull. There is only so much to do in here, and if you don't enjoy books and old board games, it's hard to keep you entertained unless you like marathons of Muppet Treasure Island.

But you can keep this up, right?

[Amanda can be found in the library after the motive. She's flipping through the diary Thalia gave her and appears to be taking the motive well - except for how every once in a while books fall down. She doesn't always notice, but every once in a while she sets the diary down and goes to reshelve the books that she knocked down.

Eventually she ends up back in her room. The door doesn't always close (since she kind of broke it her first day here) so if you want to come bother her in there she's just watching Muppet Treasure Island. Again. For the fifteenth time.]

[Normally, Cornelia would just pass by the door and mind her own business- but the motive has her slightly on edge today. She knocks gently on the door- then nudges it further open, and peers in.]

Did you mean to leave your door part way open?

[Amanda looks up from the TV and sighs.]

It's broken and sometimes it opens by itself. [Protip: don't use your powers to force a door open.] You can come in if you want, though.

[Oswald's chosen to come around and check on everyone. After that motive, he thinks it's at least warranted to see how everyone's dealing with this turn of events.

...He catches her as she goes to reshelve one of the fallen books, moving to pick it up before she does.]

. . . Sorry. [She knows better than to fight over it, but.] You don't have to clean up after me, I knocked them over in the first place.

Don't have to apologize. [He states it plainly, standing back up with the fallen literature and moving to return it to its rightful place. If it's a tall place... he can climb.]

Just trying to be helpful... y'know? Heh, it's the 'Mickey Mouse' thing to do.

. . . Sounds like him. He - the reason he was missing for so long where I'm from is that he made Minnie rip up his original drawing so the Overtakers couldn't get it. [¯\_(ツ)_/¯] We brought him back with Walt Disney's pen.

So, what you mean is Mickey didn't... exist for a while? Like he was Thinned out?

I... can't imagine that, at all. It's awful.

We didn't even know he was missing until the other Toons asked us if we were going to bring him back - and we kind of didn't know we'd be able to.

[They had Walt Disney's pen, sure, but fixing a drawing and drawing something new are two very different things.]

. . . Sorry. This is probably a really depressing topic.

It's alright, you really don't have to worry about it.

[He thinks for a second, something having just occurred to him.]

That guy... he's always getting into trouble and going on adventures. I wonder if he got pulled into Wasteland before he disappeared on you?

Wasteland? [She's never heard that one.] That doesn't sound good.

The Wasteland, as in the Cartoon Wasteland? It's apparently kind of a secret, so I don't expect anyone to really know about it.

[But if she wants to know...] It's the place where all forgotten Toons end up. Like me.

Were there many Toons there with you?

[She sounds concerned. Which, honestly she is mentally making a promise to tell the other Kingdom Keepers so they can go to wherever this is and save all these Toons. It's!!! Important!!!!]

Tons of us! There's all kinds of forgotten Toons: Toons that no one loves anymore, concept arts, guys that never made it off the drawing board - that sort of thing.

[He states it as simply as talking about the weather. Because, to him, it is as simple as that.]

I was the first one there, so I became the leader and started trying to make it work for everyone else.

Do you like it there?

[If they've been there that long, maybe they're okay? Or at least maybe they might not want to be saved. She can understand that.]

I mean, it's obviously not ideal, but . . . is it home?

[Really, he's thought on this long enough. All he can do is shrug and throw in a nod.]

I guess.. I am pretty comfortable with it, especially now that the whole Phantom Blot mess was settled. I put a lot of years and a lot of hard work into that place, all for myself and Ortensia and all the other Toons that end up there.

Right now? I don't think I'd want to be anywhere else.

Otensia . . . That's your wife, right?

[She only vaguely remembers this, they're only just starting to have Ortensia merch when she's from.]

[Nods!! Yes, hello, do you want to hear about Oswald the Lucky Rabbit's, lovely wife, Ortensia? Too bad, you're hearing about her anyway.]

Sure is! She was one of the first to come to Wasteland after I did. We were both co-stars in my cartoons back in the day. Oh, she's just sweet as a button.

[He's swoonin a little.]

She sounds wonderful. I'd love to meet her someday - [If they get out of here.] when we get out of here.

I'm sure she'd be delighted to meet you. Anyone that knows about me or her would definitely surprise her.


...Actually, most of Wasteland would be pretty glad if they knew anyone still remembered or cared about them.

I'd actually love to meet them all. [She is absolutely sincere. She is going to meet them all and love them.] I mean, maybe not all at once? It sounds like there's a lot of you guys and I want to give them all the time they deserve, you know?

[There's seven six of them now, so everyone can be meeting different people if they all go! It'll be fun. Certainly more fun than thinking about their current situation.]
