[It's been one whole week, and no one has died yet. For someone who seemed so sure that someone would die, it seems as if The Narrator was wrong about anyone killing another person. But after awhile, the hotel might seem pretty dull. There is only so much to do in here, and if you don't enjoy books and old board games, it's hard to keep you entertained unless you like marathons of Muppet Treasure Island.

But you can keep this up, right?

Exactly! [She brightens, but then her face immediately falls.] But I guess that also means it hurts twice as much when you fail.

[ Ever confident, she just replies: ] You just have to be strong as you can be, then. Make sure you're prepared so you don't fail.

[Amanda spent nearly ten books not even admitting she liked Finn. She sure as hell can spend a whole game not calling him for boyfriend.]

. . . I wouldn't have to if he wasn't so stupid. [A chair tips over.] But I'll try and remember that for. For the future.

Oh. I - it happens sometimes, when I'm angry or upset. [She clutches the diary to her chest.] For some reason it happens more often here than it does at home.

Oh! So it's like...an ability you can access? Wow, someone else who wasn't completely depowered. Is it a...what'd you call it, Kingdom Keeper? That sort of thing?

[fairlypushy]

No, um. It's my Fairlie ability, I was born with it. [Yes, "Fairlie," pronounced like "fairly."] I can't use any of my Kingdom Keeper powers here.

[Because they're garbage and OP and nobody needs to deal with that.]

[ ...you're gonna have to explain this one to her. ]

Is this like...Virgil with his superhero thing, or more like...well, me and Reyna?

[fairlypushy]

It's . . . It's short for "fairly human." We have abilities outside the norm - like pushing thing without touching them. [She holds up Jess' journal slightly.] Dreaming the future before it happens.

...So you are like a demigod? Is it parentage?

[fairlypushy]

I don't really know. [There's a lot of gaps in what they were told in the Barracks.] It's - there were a lot of us, but I don't think any of us were related.

[Yes, she did just say none of them were related. Not even her and Jessica.]

[ You know who's not going to call her on that? This girl. She's completely aware of...making family that's not your blood family. ]

Hmm... That's...so weird. Not that you are weird, just...you'd think someone would've told you.

[fairlypushy]

It's . . . We were collected as an army for a man. I think it worked in their favor to make us feel like freaks of nature, so they never explained anything to us.

[Amery Hollingsworth is a garbage can.]

...Is he still around? Can I beat him up?

[ Because River Styx, she wants to beat him up. ]

[fairlypushy]

I. [Her brows knit together, like she's trying to remember something.] I think we defeated him. I think that's what we went to the past to do.

The past? You time traveled?

[fairlypushy]

We did. I don't remember what happened there very well, but I know we were all trying to make sure something didn't happen in the past that would mess up the future.

Why don't you remember what you guys did?

[fairlypushy]

I think . . . when we changed the past, it ceased to exist - even in our memories. [She's no Philby or Willa, but that seems like the most logical explanation.] I remember we were there, I remember we came to this hotel, I remember -

[She stop mid sentences and shakes her head.]

I remember all these scraps of what happened, but I can tell they're not the whole picture.

What the...? [ She breathes out. ] I think...time travel sounds like the most complicated possible thing. And I have been through a lot of complicated things.

[fairlypushy]

[Well, you know. To travel back in time you need to turn on Walt Disney's record player, designed by Nikola Tesla, and play a specific record. Then you have to run down Main Street to get to King Arthur's carousel and hop on to ride a horse - which is only physically possible if you're a hologram because otherwise you'll probably die trying.

So yes. Time travel is really complicated.]

It's . . . pretty complicated. I don't really understand how it works - Philby doesn't even understand it all and he's the smartest person I know.

...It must be something pretty serious if you guys would risk that, then. Do you think there's any chance that your memories would return?
