Week 3

[Well, someone took the bait last week, and now two people (if either of them could really be called a person) are dead. Not only that, it seems like your first host is now out of commission and replaced by someone who claims to be The Phantom. While he may not be incredibly worse than Facilier yet, it would be a stretch to say he's an improvement.

But, things aren't all bad! When the guests wake up on Sunday, they will find the stairs in the foyer are now open, leading to a whole new floor to explore!

And there's booze so no one will have to drink vinegar anymore.

[On this day, it's safe to say that basically... everyone's bummed out after what happened two days ago. Someone was found dead, someone was exploded for killing them, and guts and a severed head fell from the ceiling. All bad. It was all bad.

So Marco's going to do what he does best and try to bring the mood up a little bit... by cooking. Last week was pizza, this time he decides to take on a bit of a tougher task. Since there's no bags of tortilla chips just laying around this kitchen, he's making some by hand. Because whenever Star's upset, a bowl of his famous Marco's Super Awesome Nachos always cheers her up.

So... he'll be in the kitchen basically all day today, working on these the best he can. You can find a bunch of failed batches tossed though, burnt or crumbly from too much flour and Marco's looking.. pretty damn frustrated as he's cutting out new chips to bake. Muttering under his breath about how it's the 100th chip he's cut out.

But he gets it done eventually! And everyone will find a piece of ripped notepad paper at their doors reading "NACHO NIGHT IN THE DINING ROOM! BRING YOUR OWN DRINKS. (alcohol not allowed there are kids here)"

So, later, when you walk into the dining room you'll find Marco in a nice, new outfit looking proud of the huuuuge bowl of nachos he's made.]

Thanks for coming! I would've made this a movie night but uh, I don't think anyone wants to watch any of those weird movies playing in the other room.

[She might not exactly be in the partying mood, but...it might be nice to get out of her room and spend a few hours thinking about anything except murder. So she follows the instructions on the invitation, bringing a big, hot, steaming mug of coffee with "earth" milk in it and a little bit of sugar.]

You're looking very dashing this evening. Now, explain something to me, Marco. What is a 'nacho'?

[Marco's cheeks flush a little bit with that compliment, and he excitedly pulls a nacho out of the bowl for a good demonstration to the poor space princess who's never seen one before.]

Nachos are an experience, Miss Leia.

[He holds the cup up, to the sky as his eyes sparkle.]

The crispy, salty tortilla chips covered in the delectable cheese sauce that drips like molten gold. It's the perfect blend of crunchy, savory, spicy bliss.

An experience, huh.

[Alright, you've got her attention. She watches him lift that chip like it's some ancient religious artifact, and she has to admit...it looks good, in a junk-food kind of way.

Well, you've got me sold.

We could try to retell them from memory! That's probably super surreal to the space and kingdom folks.

I guess that could work, yeah. We could even put on, like, a show if we got enough people to play roles.

Hmmmmm... I wonder who can do a good Harry Potter impression.

[Nacho night, huh. Sure! May as well give it a try! And these don't seem like generic nachos, these seem made with care! That's something he can respect. Say, now that Marco mentions the movies...]

Does that machine even work? I know Mr. Arrow was going to fix it after... [He looks around. Mr Arrow isn't nearby, thankfully] ...Louis and I broke it, but I didn't think he'd know how to do it!

[Maybe he's good for something other than being a stick in the mud!]

.......you guys broke the movie projector?

[Not that Marco's complaining but he hadn't even noticed.]

[Rémy tilts his head. Admitting it is something he doesn't like, but...surely a kid would be able to relate and not be upset about something like this, he decides]

I accidentally broke that round thing on top and I think Louis stretched one of the film reels. It was all a mess.

I might, if they were actually in color. Black and white? Booooooring.

[Whatever. She's giving those nachos a good eye.]

[Marco notices her eyeing them, and just casually pushes the bowl towards her.]

Black and white movies aren't bad, there were some real gems from the era before colour you know! It's where all the best, bad horror movies came from.

Do we have any of those? I wasn't allowed to watch them. Mom said they were too scary. [She's polite enough to plate the nachos, but wow, that's a lot for a girl her size.]

[Mabel is never one to turn down free junk food, so you bet your butt she's here for nachos. ]

We should try and break open that slot machine thing that gives people stuff!! Maybe it has movies that aren't weird and boring in there.

[Mabel knows what's up.]

[Ariel's here too! She's excited to see whatever these nachos are honestly. But she can't help but clap when she sees Marco in his new costume. He looks nice!]

[Marco lets out a sheepish laugh and claps his hands too, directing the conversation away from his outfit before it goes there somehow.]

Yea-heahhh, nnnachossss!

Mermaids don't usually eat nachos, do they?

[It's too bad Noby only has one new outfit. Still, he's done his best to make it look as neat as possible for the party. He actually gasps a little when he sees Marco's, though.] Wow, you look good!

[And then he sees the homemade nachos.] And so does the food!

[Marco takes a chip for himself and pushes the bowl towards Noby, a proud look in his eye as he waits for him to try them.]

I literally worked on these since I woke up this morning, it's really hard to make tortilla chips by scratch.

[a pause]

...though I saw soda in the fridge so I wonder if there was a bag hidden somewhere.

it's party time it's party time everybody's feelin fine cause it's-

Not exactly the greatest atmosphere for a party, probably.

[ Examines The Nach. ]

So these are nachos?

At least I didn't cook everything in jello.

[He's trying his best okay.]

And yeah! They might look simple, but one bite will take you to another dimension*.

[Nice to see someone throwing an actually good party instead of what happened with Negaduck.

Anyway, Soos comes because he wants to feel a little better about the situation, and nachos always make people feel better.]

Thanks for having the party, dude! It's probably gonna be way better than the last one. And don't worry, there's other things we can do that aren't watching those...cartoons.

It's no problem, my man. Honestly I just woke up in the mood to cook and thought "Hey! Why not make enough for everyone?"

[It turned out to more of an endeavor than he wanted but it's fine.]

You're right though. We might not have movies but we can still do something else liiiiike telling stories from home or something.

[So, Kit has no idea what a Nacho Night is but he feels as though he probably ought to attend if only so that he can learn what a Nacho Night is.

He also doesn't know what a movie is but you know what, one thing at a time.]

I think you're going to teach me more about food than Rémy at this rate. Is that nachos?

[He definitely doesn't say it right. however you say, it he doesn't do that.]

[Marco can't help but laugh a little bit at his weird pronunciation -- he knows it's just because he hasn't seen them before but it's still funny okay.]

Nachos.

[He enunciates for Kit, before he pulls a chip out to show him.]

They're a comfort food for me, and I make them whenever someone in my house is upset. And after all that happened last week, I think everyone deserves a nice plate of them.
