Mock Gaiden Trial

[After everyone has finished investigating the horrendous death of a poor dog (and also a couple of disasters who somehow gotten themselves killed, everyone will hear a loud click from the direction of Superstar Studios. A few moments later, the Agent’s voice is heard.]

Ok that’s enough rehearsal there! Time for the show! Everyone break a leg okay?

[As everyone enters the Studio, the first thing that hits them is the blinding lights, making it impossible to see anything for the first few moments.

Once their eyes adjust, they’ll realize that they are definitely in a really tacky movie studios. There are some cheap cardboard cutouts of monsters and city skylines, cameras that look pretty out of date, and the whole place looks like it was built on a shoestring budget.

In the middle of the studio there are rows of directors chairs for every guest that woke up here, with Rod, Ghost Host, and Stan’s chairs just knocked over. In front of them stands the Agent, grinning in an extremely uncanny way.]

I’m impressed! Three bodies is impressive after that first week of nothin’! I’m gonna make sure that culprit gets an extra special reward if they manage to get away with it.

[A small pause, then:]

Okay, my shining stars. You all have to figure out who killed your fellow actors so they don’t get away with it! If they do, they get their reward while everyone else will be punished instead.

There’s no set time limit, but make sure you don’t make it borin’. The cameras are rolling and I ain’t going to let the people watch another boring average reality show!

[Several things happen at once when Pete decides to lift Constantine.

The first is that the frog himself starts yelling something out about his innocence,about how his collar isn't torn and neither is his skin, you can check it yourself-

He cuts himself off. Or rather, something else cuts him off.]

[While Pete was lifting Constantine, he began to take the puppeteer up with him. Unfortunately, the higher Constantine went, the harder it became for the puppeteer to hold on. Finally, his hand slips out of the puppet, and the man falls on the floor with a solid thump.

Simultaneously, Constantine seems to... slump. He's gone completely limp.]

[The puppeteer himself... well. For one, now everyone can see him. He's no longer easy to overlook, and those of you who hadn't seen him before may be surprised at the fact that you hadn't. To be fair, he looks pretty fucking surprised, himself. He looks around at everyone, wide-eyed and nervous.] Uh... Hello?

[...Pete just stares in wide-eyed horror. First, at the lifeless Constantine puppet in his hand. Second, at the weird man on the ground.]

W...Who th' heck are you?!

I'm, uh- [Matt Vogel flinches back from the well-aimed umbrella sent his way by Eclipsa. it hits him in the chest before clattering to the floor.] I'm Matt. ... Can I have him back? He's, like. Really, really expensive. We only have a few Constantine models, and I can't- I really don't want him to get torn up, here.

[stinkypete]

Wait, isn't his name Kermit? Y'know, like, Kermit th' Frog?

[Nonetheless, he drops Constantine...on the ground. He doesn't know how to feel about this.]

Oh, no, he's uh- Kermit's evil Russian doppelganger from our 2014 movie. You know, Muppets Most Wanted? ... Ricky Gervais? I do perform Kermit too, now, though, now that Whitmire's gone.

[Cassandra's already approaching him, and not in a friendly way.]

I've kind of just... Uh, been here? Whenever I'm puppeteering, people usually can't see me. Not even the puppets. I'm pretty used to it.

You mean you've... Wait. [She tries to gather herself with a deep breath, oh boy.] So, not only have you been here this whole time, but you were magically invisible too, and controlling that-

[Points to the crumpled form of Constantine.]

-that thing? All of that was you?!

He's been here the whole time.

See! At least one person gets it.

Does this...make sense to anyone else? Anyone at all?

I told you all: Camo is a puppet. That's the puppeteer.

Can you seriously not tell? He's a puppet, he's a cartoon [points at Pete] and the creepy man running this place is a bizarre animatronic.

But...he was talking to us, like he was real and alive. But he's not?

Well, see, that's the- that's the thing. He's real and alive in his own way. Like, I puppeteer him, but I don't really... control him. He's got his own agendas, you know? He'd do the same things even if someone else was puppeteering him.

[stinkypete]

[Pete just clutches his head. This is a lot to take in at once.]

[mostwantedfrog]

[Pete is still holding Constantine's completely limp, ragdoll body as he does this.]

[stinkypete]

[Tosses the damn thing to Matt.]

Just take it. I feel sick to my stomach just lookin' at you.
